6 Houston Coffee Shops -- Shop Local!
Share
As a small, local business in Houston, Texas, we do our best to support the other local businesses around town. We at Summerfield Candle Co. understand the benefits of shopping local. There is no doubt that America's small businesses are the backbone of our economy. After watching the pandemic and politicians decimate small businesses, every dollar counts. Choose local over corporate from time to time if you can. When shopping from local small business I have found higher quality products and better customer service. By shopping locally, you also invest in your own community while enjoying the convenience of buying in your neighborhood.
Here in Houston, there are plenty of locally owned/operated restaurants and stores that you can support. As a coffee consumer, it is easy to shop and support local businesses by skipping Starbucks and wandering into one of the many coffee shops throughout your neighborhood. Here are the best coffee shops in Houston and my reliable recommendations for your caffeine fix or a friend meet up.
-- 101 Aurora St, Houston, TX 77008
This industrial styled, yet cozy spot roasts their in-house fresh cups of joe and offers a fine atmosphere in which to relax or work. Located in the height’s neighborhood off Yale St. just inside the N 610 loop.
-- 2147 Westheimer Rd Suite A, Houston, TX 77098
This Upper Kirby coffee shop is clean, well designed. Uniquely they have a small pilates room that they offer classes in. Duo Coffee offers a small simple breakfast menu with tacos but other than that it's just consistently solid coffee.
-- 701 West Alabama, Houston, 77006
Located in Houston's classic Montrose neighborhood, Siphon Coffee is known for its locally roasted espresso. Siphon also has beer, wine, and freshly baked goods. Go and try their namesake, slow brewed siphon coffee. It is my personal favorite and a good coffee date with their surprisingly good food menu for a coffee spot.
-- 1018 Westheimer, Houston, 77006
Opened in 2013, Blacksmith has been slinging coffee and biscuits heavily in Montrose ever since. This is a local favorite and well written about for good reason. Open daily 7am – 5pm. Go try the best biscuit and coffee combo in Houston. Best coffee shop food menu in Houston.
-- 802 Shepard Drive, Houston, 77007
The newest place on this list, located in the Washington area. This spot is ideal for meeting a friend or taking the family because of the open, social ambiance it offers. At times a little loud/crowded for studying or reading on the weekend but during the week it is perfect. Be mindful of their late start on Sunday (12:00pm) due to the church next door. This is the best new coffee shop in Houston.
-- 636 W 26th St. Houston, 77008
The most unique spot on this list because it doubles as a motorcycle repair shop. You can fit in by sporting your leather jacket while getting your coffee and breakfast tacos. A huge fan of the exposed wood and black finishes. This spot has great merch to go with the grit and vibe.
